    Job Description:

    The Staff Accountant is an integral member of the Joint Venture Accounting team and will be responsible for ensuring journal entries and account reconciliations for MPLX, its subsidiaries and its joint ventures are completed in accordance with company policy and generally accepted accounting principles.

    Job Responsibilities:

    • Responsible for accuracy and timeliness of recorded transactions.
    • Prepares balance sheet account reconciliations for multiple accounts and legal entities.
    • Ensures transactions are recorded, documented, reviewed and supported in accordance with company policies and controls.
    • Provides variance analysis on balance sheet and income statement accounts for management reporting purposes.
    • Prepare joint venture financial statements for partners.
    • Supports special projects as needed and assists other accountants as requested by management.
    • Answers and resolves internal and external customer inquiries, including audit inquiries.
    • Completes one or more regulatory and/or governmental reports.
    • Records journal entries as assigned for the close process for multiple legal entities including elimination entries between affiliate entities.
    • Possesses a basic understanding of Generally Accepted Accounting Principles (GAAP)
    • Additional responsibilities as assigned by the Accounting Supervisor or other team members.

    Job Requirements/Qualifications:

    • Excellent organization skills.
    • Proficient with MS Office applications.
    • Flexibility to work overtime during peak periods.
    • Detail-oriented with strong analytical skills.
    • Ability to work under high pressure and in a fast-paced environment.
    • Highly motivated and team-oriented individual.
